Little Soldier

A woman soldier returning from a war is taken on by her own father; her job is to drive the women he puts to work from place to place around the city. In time she takes it upon herself to help one of them. The film does not build this as a story of rescue; it shows the woman’s tie both to her father and to the army, and where good intentions are not enough. The account does not leave the woman being helped as a silent figure and gives her as someone with decisions of her own. The shock of returning after a war stands throughout beneath the story. Violence is made felt without being shown. Trine Dyrholm and Lorna Brown appear in Annette K. Olesen’s hundred and two minute Danish film, completed in 2008.
