What In Your Hands Is About
Anna, fresh out of her theology degree, takes a job as chaplain in a Danish women’s prison. She becomes particularly concerned with Kate, an inmate the staff describe as difficult and withdrawn, while the other women are convinced that Kate’s hands heal and even work miracles, and Anna finds herself caught between her own faith and what she sees in front of her. Annette K. Olesen’s hundred and one minute Danish film was the last production the Dogme 95 group officially recognised; the movement disbanded in 2005 and this film stands as its close. Ann Eleonora Jørgensen and Trine Dyrholm lead, with Nicolaj Kopernikus in support. It competed for the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival and won the special jury prize at Valladolid.
