Long Story Short

A close group of friends come together at celebrations over the course of years. Weddings, birthdays, house moves, funerals. At every gathering the same people have changed a little more: whose work has fallen apart, whose marriage has ended, who has arrived with someone new. The pandemic years also fall between these meetings. David Dietl builds the story out of one party after another; the time in between is never shown, only its results. Comedy and mourning sit side by side at the same table. The relationships inside the group, the separations and the resentments nobody says out loud are what the film is really about. It has a large German cast of familiar names including Laura Tonke, Annette Frier and Nicholas Ofczarek.
