Loophole

Mike Donovan, a bank teller, fails to report a shortage of forty nine thousand dollars in his cash. That one decision is the beginning of everything. He is accused of theft and loses his job. An insurance investigator gets on his trail and blocks him wherever he applies for work. Despite everything Donovan tries to clear his name. The film is about how the doors around an accused man close one by one. That proving innocence is harder than proving guilt is the real matter of the account. Shot in 1954, it is a short, tight work out of the film noir vein. Barry Sullivan, Dorothy Malone and Charles McGraw appear in Harold D. Schuster’s eighty minute American film, completed in 1954.
