What Love Story Is About
Youssef’s brother is pushing him towards marriage when an accident costs him his sight. One day he collides with a young woman, Gamila, who first helps him, then takes on his care, and eventually becomes something more to him. The question the film is actually interested in comes after that: how much of this attachment is tenderness, how much of it is choice, and how either of them is supposed to prove the difference to the other. Directed by Othman Abu Laban from a script by Amani El Tounsy, this Egyptian romantic comedy opened in February 2019. Ahmed Hatem and Hana El Zahed play the leads, with Ola Roshdy and Hanan Soliman in support.
