What Lovers and Lollipops Is About

Ann, a widowed model living in New York, shares an apartment with her daughter Peggy. The courtship of Ann by Larry, an engineer visiting the city, and the mishaps that come with it are shown from two sides in turn: first as the adults see it, then as the child does. Peggy’s view turns the arrival of a new man in the house into something else entirely. The film was shot in real New York locations, on the street and among the crowd, and that construction gives the account a documentary texture. It declares nobody the villain and looks instead at three people living the same events separately. Lori March plays the lead in the eighty two minute American film by Morris Engel and Ruth Orkin, completed in 1956.
