Loving You

Deke Rivers drives a delivery truck and plays guitar. When he gets up on stage at a small-town rally, the publicist Glenda Markle and the country musician Tex Warner spot him and lay a career out in front of him. Deke rises fast, but the deal comes with publicity, lies and two women: Glenda, who is using him, and Susan, a singer in the band who is not. It was Elvis Presley's second film. Director Hal Kanter had the idea of putting Elvis's parents, Gladys and Vernon, in the audience during the closing number. After Gladys died in 1958 Elvis never watched the film again, saying it hurt too much to see his mother on the screen.
