What Lowriders Is About
Danny paints walls in East Los Angeles. His father Miguel runs a garage and has given his life to lowrider culture, cars dropped low and worked over in detail, and expects his son to carry it on. When Ghost, the older brother, comes home from prison, old accounts in the house open again. Danny is caught between the two of them, between making his own work and making what the family wants. Demián Bichir plays the father. The cars are beautifully shot and the story is familiar; what the film has is a neighbourhood speaking in its own voice.
