What Lucky and Zorba Is About
A seagull covered in oil entrusts her egg to a cat before she dies, exacting three promises: do not eat the egg, look after the chick, teach her to fly. The last promise is the whole film. The narrative treats the cat's not knowing how to do it as a serious obligation rather than a joke. The harbour cats are drawn as a community with an order and rules of their own. It is adapted from a book by Luis Sepulveda. It is an Italian production, drawn by hand. Before watching: the opening shows an animal dying in oil and can upset small children. The rest is much gentler.
