Luxury Hotel

The film takes place inside a hotel. The hotel is run like a country. Floors and rooms correspond to social classes. The staff are below and those who govern are above. Alex is a young employee at the hotel. He rises quickly and is made its manager. His mother tells him something about the past. He learns that he is the son of the man who heads the country. That knowledge changes his position. Alex is given a mandate to report the state of the hotel upwards. Inside the building there is hunger, cold and lying. Those in charge have no wish to see any of it. The film was built as an allegory. The account draws a parallel with Romania under Ceausescu. The production won the Silver Lion at Venice. Valentin Popescu and Ştefan Iordache appear in the hundred and five minute film, a Romanian production Dan Pița finished in 1992.
