What Macross Frontier: The Wings of Farewell Is About
It picks up where the previous film ended: Ranka’s star is rising while Sheryl collapses during a performance and her health falls away quickly. Behind the scenes separate factions are working to control the Vajra swarm by using the voices of the two singers. As the whole Macross Frontier fleet goes into its last war against the Vajra, Alto finally chooses between Ranka and Sheryl. This is the second and final part of the film adaptation of the Macross Frontier series; the first was called The False Songstress. Shoji Kawamori directed it, it opened on 26 February 2011 and took seven hundred million yen in Japan. What the series is known for is here too: a space battle, mecha and a pop song inside the same scene.
