Gurren Lagann the Movie: The Lights in the Sky Are Stars

Seven years have passed since the war. People have come up to the surface, cities have been built, and Simon now holds office. Then something appears in the sky: there was an arrangement set to act if the population passed a certain number, and it is now moving. The new threat comes from beyond the world and its aim is to limit humanity. The team gathers again. This time the war is neither underground nor on the surface but in space, and the scale grows at every stage. Hiroyuki Imaishi directs. It was made at the Gainax studio and is the second feature drawn from the series. It is the second half of the series re-edited; some sections were redrawn and the finale was made entirely new. The known idea of the series is scale; the machines grow at every stage and in the last section the dimensions reach the level of a galaxy. The matter the narrative works at is the cost of growing; those who were heroes in the first half hold office in the second and their decisions are argued over. The animation is extravagant and energetic; the studio's manner is plain. Its limit is the compilation structure; for anyone who does not know the series the transitions are abrupt and there are many characters. The finale is among the most cited parts of the series and is deliberately without measure. Who it is for: viewers who like robot animation and are following the series. Who it is not for: it is not an entry point, the exaggeration is very high, and the editing jumps.
