What Make the Yuletide Gay Is About
Gunn lives openly as a gay man at college and goes back into the closet when he returns to his parents for the holidays. When his boyfriend Nathan turns up at the door unannounced, he has to turn the whole break into a piece of theatre. That is where the comedy comes from, a family dinner circling something everybody knows and nobody says. Low budget, light and made for its own audience, with no ambitions as cinema. But in 2009 a gay Christmas romantic comedy barely existed; the genre only became common years later.
