What Marius Is About

Marseille, the Old Port, the bar La Marine. Marius, the son of the owner Cesar, spends his days watching the ships pass and dreaming of leaving on one. Fanny has loved him since childhood and he has loved her, and neither of them says so. When a ship offers him work, two lives open in front of him and he cannot have both. This comes from the first play of Marcel Pagnol's Marseille trilogy; Daniel Auteuil directs and plays Cesar, and shot the sequel Fanny in the same period. Not to be confused with the 1931 original adaptation.
