Mark Antony

Mark Antony, directed by Adhik Ravichandran, is a Tamil science fiction action comedy starring Vishal and S. J. Suryah, about a car mechanic who finds a device that can make phone calls to the past and uses it to change the timeline after learning the truth behind his father's death. S. J. Suryah plays a dual role, both a gangster and his son. The film's trailer drew ethical controversy for recreating the late actress Silk Smitha through makeup and visual effects. Production, which included sixty one days of action shoots, was interrupted when Vishal was injured on set, and an allegation that a censor board official was bribed to issue a certificate led to a CBI investigation. The film grossed more than 10 billion rupees worldwide, becoming Vishal's first film to cross that mark. Who it's for: anyone curious about a Tamil action film in which a mechanic uses a time travel device to uncover the truth about his father's death, a production that also made headlines over a censor board bribery scandal. Who it's not for: those wanting a simple, single timeline story, since the film constantly shifts between 1975 and 1995.
