Marriage Is a Crazy Thing

Jun-young teaches English literature part time at a university and has no intention of marrying anyone. A blind date with Yeon-hee turns into something immediate, but she wants a secure life and marries another man. The relationship does not end there; the two settle into a long, hidden arrangement that runs alongside her marriage. Yoo Ha neither condemns the arrangement nor sells it as freedom. He simply watches the parallel life the couple build wear thin. Uhm Jung-hwa and Kam Woo-sung drew a great deal of comment at the time for playing sex as an ordinary habit rather than a promise, and the film is still read as one of the coolest-headed Korean looks at marriage from those years. The script comes from a novel of the same name.
