McCullin

The documentary tells the life of the war photographer Don McCullin. It begins with his childhood in a poor part of London. His first work is for the Observer; then come long years of going into war zones for the Sunday Times, from Cyprus and the Congo to Vietnam, Biafra, Northern Ireland and Lebanon. He talks over his own photographs, describing what he saw, who was left there, and what he felt while taking the picture. David Morris and Jacqui Morris directed it together. It runs eighty-nine minutes. With the sale of the Sunday Times to Rupert Murdoch in the eighties, that part of McCullin's working life closes. The film was nominated in the outstanding debut category at the British academy awards.
