Memory Games

The documentary follows four competitors going for the world memory championship. They come from the United States, Germany and Mongolia. Each has a method of memorising and recalling of their own, and the film shows those methods one by one. The account takes in not only the competition but the life stories of these people. The film’s case is that memory runs through every part of life and is what makes us who we are. That assessment is the documentary’s own and the account is built around it. How much of an ability is won by work is a question standing inside the film. The eighty five minute documentary by Janet Tobias and Claus Wehlisch, a joint German, Swedish and American production, was completed in 2019.
