What Men in Hope Is About
Rudolf, a man who knows how to enjoy himself, genuinely believes that infidelity is the foundation of a happy marriage, on the grounds that a woman does not want to be bored by her husband. When he sets about teaching this philosophy to his son in law things come apart: the honest and inept younger man takes a first step and the consequences go somewhere nobody calculated. Jiří Vejdělek’s Czech comedy argues about marriage and about two generations of masculinity at once, without lecturing anyone. Relaxed, talkative, and occasionally quite painful. Bolek Polívka and Jiří Macháček lead.
