Women in Temptation

Helena, who works as a marriage counsellor, learns that her husband has left her for a younger woman, and the order of forty years falls apart in a day. While her mother Vilma and her daughter Laura push her to meet someone new, Jakub, a friend of Laura’s, takes an interest in Helena and confuses matters entirely. The film shows how differently three women from three generations look at the same question and builds its comedy on that difference; but the tone changes at the end when the family loses its oldest member. In Jiří Vejdělek’s hundred and eighteen minute Czech film, Eliška Balzerová plays Vilma, Lenka Vlasáková plays Helena and Veronika Khek Kubařová plays Laura. It was completed in 2010, drew more than a million viewers in Czech cinemas, and Balzerová won the Czech Lion for best supporting actress.
