What Men of Deeds Is About
Ilie, the police chief of a small town, wants to build himself a quiet, comfortable life: an orchard, maybe a house. Middle aged and cut off from the people around him, he feels a need to belong to something. Dubious things go on in the village, but Ilie sees only what suits him. The moment he gets involved his own collapse begins; with no solutions left he tries to become the thing he has never been, the seeker of justice who arrests everyone. The film gives this as cold comedy rather than as tragedy. Iulian Postelnicu appears in Paul Negoescu’s hundred and six minute Romanian film, completed in 2022.
