Men...

Julius, a successful executive, learns that his wife is involved with another man. He moves out but does not divorce; instead he finds his wife's lover and starts living in the same flat with him. The man has no idea who he is. Julius becomes his friend, helps with his work, sets about improving his life. Helping is not the aim. Doris Dörrie's comedy was a large box office success in Germany in 1985 and became known abroad as well. The film mocks the way men describe themselves: what they say about freedom, loyalty and success is constantly contradicted by what they do. Heiner Lauterbach and Uwe Ochsenknecht play two opposite types. The middle class of West Germany at the time is also a target.
