Mental Madhilo

Vivek Athreya's 2017 Telugu film follows Aravind, who cannot decide. He is caught between a match arranged by his family and a woman he met himself. The film makes material out of indecision without treating it lightly. Aravind's evasive answers hurt both women; the narrative builds each of them as a character in her own right rather than as a prize. Sree Vishnu and Nivetha Pethuraj lead. The dialogue is dense and the pace fast. The close does not quite follow the expected shape. Who it's for: those who like Telugu romantic comedy. Who it's not for: viewers wanting a decisive hero; the film takes the opposite as its subject.
