Surya is an angry man and cannot hold his anger. Before she dies his mother takes a promise from him: for six days of the week he will stay calm whatever happens, store the anger up, and release it only on Saturday. Surya keeps the promise. During the week he works as an insurance agent, answers nobody back and takes beatings. On Saturday he settles accounts. A new police chief arrives in the town. Dayanand is a cruel man and does not have to explain his power to anyone. The two men come face to face and each has a rule of his own. Vivek Athreya writes and directs. Nani plays Surya and S. J. Suryah the police chief; Priyanka Arul Mohan is in the cast. The language is Telugu. The idea it builds is restriction; the engine of the narrative is not the hero's strength but his calendar, and the film never breaks the rule. The character S. J. Suryah plays is not a one dimensional villain; the narrative gives him a logic of his own. The film uses the conventions of commercial Telugu cinema but ties its fights to a calendar. The music and the cutting are decisive in the action sections. Its second strand is the order of power in the town; the chief's impunity rests on local relations. Its limit is length; the narrative is long and repeats in its middle stretch. Another limit is consistency; the rule is strained in places and the comic register clashes with the serious sections. Who it is for: viewers who like Telugu action and genres built on an idea. Who it is not for: the violence is explicit, it runs long, and the shape is familiar.
