Miss Mend

Three reporters and a young woman who works in an office fall into something they did not expect. Powerful Western businessmen are preparing a bacteriological attack on the Soviet Union. The four of them set off to stop the plan. The account is built as an adventure serial and moves forward part by part. There is plenty of chase, disguise and comedy, and the film does not take itself seriously. It was made as an adventure serial in three parts, runs two hundred and fifty minutes, and is loosely adapted from the novels of Marietta Shaginyan. The official Soviet press of the day dismissed it as Western style entertainment, and it became one of the most popular Soviet films of the twenties all the same. Natalya Glan and Boris Barnet take the leads, with Igor Ilyinsky and Vladimir Fogel also in the cast. The Soviet film by Fyodor Otsep and Boris Barnet was completed in 1926.
