Mithya

An ordinary actor who cannot find work agrees, at the suggestion of the police, to take the place of a gang leader who is his exact double. At first this looks like the biggest part of his life. But the further he gets into the man’s circle, the more the line between the part and his own identity blurs; in the end he no longer knows himself who is who. The film runs this as comedy and as thriller at once and arrives at an uncomfortable question about the actor’s trade. The account moves fast but is stingy about giving the viewer information. Ranvir Shorey and Naseeruddin Shah appear in Rajat Kapoor’s hundred and ten minute Indian film, completed in 2008.
