Ankhon Dekhi

Ankhon Dekhi is writer-director Rajat Kapoor's fifth feature; it had its world premiere at the South Asian International Film Festival on December 5, 2013, and opened in India on March 21, 2014. Starring Sanjay Mishra, it follows a man in his late fifties in Old Delhi who, after witnessing a false accusation involving his daughter, decides to believe nothing he hasn't personally observed. The film won Best Film, Best Actor for Sanjay Mishra, and Best Story for Rajat Kapoor in the Critics categories at the 2014 Filmfare Awards, and Best Story along with Best Supporting Actress (Seema Pahwa) at the 2015 Screen Awards. The film is dedicated to the memory of directors Mani Kaul and Kumar Shahani. Who it's for: anyone curious about a critically acclaimed independent Indian film about a man who decides to believe nothing he hasn't personally witnessed himself. Who it's not for: viewers wanting a fast paced, star studded mainstream Bollywood film, since this is a slow paced independent work built on a philosophical premise.
