What Moon Conspiracy Is About
Dennis Mascarenas, chief reporter for a German language television station in the United States, is told to make a film about the German relationship with the moon. The assignment takes him into the world of esotericists and conspiracy theorists: moon gymnastics, Nazi UFOs, the Black Sun, chemtrails. Thomas Frickel's 2011 film uses the mockumentary form, but the people it meets are real. As the research goes on the actual subject surfaces: much of what these circles publish is anti democratic, and some of it openly antisemitic. It begins as a laugh and ends as something else.
