Cassandra’s mother dies suddenly. The death throws her into the middle of a crisis. She has to arrange the funeral. But she cannot get her head straight. Her family wants her not to give a speech at the service. Cassandra is determined to speak. The real question is what she will say about her mother. The account is compressed into forty eight hours. Two performers play Cassandra together. That doubling shows the opposing voices inside a modern woman’s head. The film was adapted from a stage play of the same name. Amy Nostbakken and Norah Sadava wrote the play. Patricia Rozema’s Canadian film of 2019 runs ninety one minutes.
