Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway

Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway is based on Sagarika Chakraborty's (Bhattacharya) autobiographical book The Journey of a Mother; in the real case, the couple moved to Norway in 2007, and in 2011 Norway's child welfare service removed their children citing neglect and emotional disconnection. In January 2013, the Calcutta High Court restored custody to the mother, and the case triggered a diplomatic crisis between India and Norway. Critics have noted, though, that the film simplifies the real case, since the actual proceedings also involved Norwegian authorities' allegations of physical abuse that the film omits. Who it's for: anyone curious about a Bollywood drama based on a real international custody case and diplomatic crisis, even in simplified form. Who it's not for: viewers wanting a narrative that reflects every complex detail of the real case.
