Mugabe and the White African

The documentary follows Mike Campbell, one of the few white farmers left in Zimbabwe, and his family. After Robert Mugabe’s land redistribution programme the economy of the country collapsed and most of the farms that changed hands stopped producing. After years of threats and pressure Campbell decides to act, and because he can get no help from the authorities in his own country he takes the matter to an international court. The film looks at all of this entirely from the side of this family and does not go into the colonial history behind the question of land; it is worth watching in the knowledge of where the account is speaking from. The ninety minute documentary by Lucy Bailey and Andrew Thompson was completed in 2009.
