What Muhammad: The Last Prophet Is About
Richard Rich's animated film covers the early years of Islam: the persecution of the Muslims in Mecca, the migration to Medina and finally the return to Mecca. Badr, Uhud and the Trench are all in it. The defining decision of the production is this: in keeping with Islamic tradition, Muhammad and the first four caliphs are never shown on screen. The scenes he is present in are filmed from his point of view, and what he says is relayed by the narrator. Badr International produced it. The telling is kept simple enough for children to follow; it does not enter historical disputes, and what it sets out to do is convey the order of events.
