What Muslum Is About
A biographical film about Müslüm Gürses. It starts in a childhood of poverty and violence inside the house; his voice carries him from provincial coffee houses to stages and finally to a name that millions called Baba, the father. Arabesk, which the state broadcaster kept off the air for years, formed its bond with listeners precisely because of that. The scenes of fans cutting themselves at concerts are in the film openly. His marriage to Muhterem Nur is the emotional centre. Timuçin Esen plays him without falling into impersonation.
