My Brother Chases Dinosaurs

When Jack was small his parents told him his brother Giò was a special being with superpowers, and he believed it. Years pass, Jack starts secondary school knowing that Giò has Down syndrome, and once he falls for Arianna he begins to be ashamed of his brother and to hide him. Stefano Cipani adapted the book Giacomo Mazzariol wrote about his own childhood. Its honest quality is refusing to conceal the shame; the film does not forgive the older brother quickly and the repair is slow. Lorenzo Sisto plays Giò and has Down syndrome himself. Alessandro Gassmann and Isabella Ragonese are in the cast. It premiered at Venice in September 2019. Who it is for: viewers who like family drama and Italian films about brothers. Who it is not for: anyone who will be bothered by an emotional resolution arriving too neatly.
