My Father's Bike

One day the old man's wife leaves him for another man. On hearing it, his son and grandson come back to Poland from abroad. The three of them set out together to find her. But as the journey goes on it turns out that each of them has a woman of his own who is missing, and the matter becomes something else. Piotr Trzaskalski's Polish film puts three generations of men in one car and forces them to look at each other. The jazz musician Michał Urbaniak plays the grandfather. The telling makes no grand statements; the subject is three men who never knew one another realising they share the same hurt. The tone is comic and sad at once, and the landscape is the Polish countryside.
