What My Wonderful Wanda Is About
Wanda, a Polish carer, looks after seventy year old Josef in a family house by the lake; she is there at every hour of the day and helps his wife Elsa as well. Gregi, the youngest son of the family, likes her very much. The work is badly paid, but Wanda needs the money for her own family in Poland. Living under the same roof shows her everything private about the household, and when she unexpectedly becomes pregnant the house splits in two. The film treats care work and family ties built on money in a mocking tone. Agnieszka Grochowska and Marthe Keller appear in Bettina Oberli’s hundred and eleven minute Swiss production, completed in 2021.
