Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom

Balaji Tharaneetharan's 2012 Tamil film is drawn from a real incident. A young man who loses the last year of his memory in an accident two days before his wedding does not recognise his fiancée, and his friends do everything they can to make the wedding happen anyway. The film tells this not as tragedy but as comedy arising from his friends' helplessness. The structure is almost documentary: long scenes, dialogue that feels improvised, non-professional performers. It is one of Vijay Sethupathi's early works and among the films that introduced him widely. What it does best is treat memory loss as an everyday problem rather than a dramatic device. The ending is deliberately left unresolved. Who it's for: viewers who like Tamil independent cinema and comedy drawn from real events. Who it's not for: anyone wanting a tightly plotted story, or who will find the loose handheld image uncomfortable.
