Namdev, a waiter, and his three friends win the top prize with a lottery ticket. But the friendship ends the moment the money arrives: two of them kill the third and pin it on Namdev, who goes to prison, leaving his wife and children with nothing. While the killers grow rich on the winnings, setting up hotels and companies, Namdev’s children are raised with difficulty by their aunt. Years later the grown son takes a job as a waiter in that same hotel, and it falls to him to settle the account. In Manmohan Desai’s hundred and ninety seven minute Indian film, Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Rishi Kapoor and Hema Malini appear. It was completed in 1981 and is one of the multi-star Bollywood productions of its period.
