What Nodame Cantabile: The Movie I Is About
Chiaki takes over an orchestra in Europe, and what he is handed is a scratch ensemble of stand-ins in which nobody listens to anybody else. Nodame is preparing for her own examination at the conservatory while supporting him through it. Where the two of them are going, in music and with each other, is not settled. Hideki Takeuchi's 2009 film continues the television series adapted from Tomoko Ninomiya's manga, and is the first of two parts. It takes classical music seriously without giving up the comedy: rehearsals, arguments about tempo and Nodame's chaos all sit in the same scene. Juri Ueno and Hiroshi Tamaki carry their roles over from the series.
