What Nora's Will Is About
Jose learns that Nora, the woman he was married to for thirty years and then divorced, has taken her own life. The rabbi explains that because of the holidays, if she is not buried the same day the funeral must wait five days. Nora planned all of it before she died, so that Jose would be the one who had to handle the burial. She overlooked one small thing: a photograph kept under her bed. Mariana Chenillo's 2008 Mexican film mixes grief with comedy and never cheapens either. Fernando Lujan leads. Warm, and able to hold death, religious rule and an old love at one table.
