What Not One Less Is About
When the teacher at a poor village school in rural China has to leave for a month, thirteen year old Wei Minzhi is left in his place. She is only a few years older than her pupils and took the job to bring money home. The teacher leaves one condition: not a single student is to be lost before he returns. When one of the boys goes to the city to work, Wei sets out to bring him back. Zhang Yimou shot it in a real village with non professional actors. Plain, and as stubborn as its lead.
