What Off the Rails Is About
After a run of things going wrong, Anya decides to rebuild her life from scratch: she pulls out a dusty bicycle, puts her dachshund Kapa in the trailer and sets off for Magadan, about as far across Russia as a person can go, to make peace with the mother she has not spoken to in thirteen years. Ten thousand kilometres, injured feet, the people she meets on the way, and an endurance test a city dweller is in no way ready for. Anton Maslov directed it from a book about the journey Anya Smolina really made, and Olga Lerman plays the lead. It opened in Russia on 8 March 2023. The summary text in the record carries broken characters and words left half finished, damage that comes from the transfer rather than from the content.
