What Ondu Motteya Kathe Is About
Janardhan is a twenty-eight-year-old Kannada lecturer in Mangalore, and an introvert. When an astrologer tells him he will end up renouncing the world unless he marries within the year, he panics: he has never managed a real conversation with a woman, and every match his family has looked at has fallen through because he is not considered good-looking enough. The title translates literally as the story of an egg, meaning a bald man. Raj B. Shetty wrote, directed and starred in it. Made for about three million rupees, his first film took twenty-five million, won the Filmfare award for best Kannada film, and was remade twice, in Malayalam and in Hindi.
