One Fast Move

Discharged from the army for indiscipline, Wes goes looking for the father he left behind years ago. The man was once a professional motorcycle racer. His son wants to learn to race from him; the father refuses at first. Kelly Blatz wrote and directed. KJ Apa plays Wes, Eric Dane the father, with Maia Reficco and Edward James Olmos in the cast. The story runs the sports film template almost by the rule: the estranged father, the training period, the first defeat and the final race. Where it works is the riding. The race sections were shot on real circuits with real riders, and the camera at road level delivers the speed directly. The father and son line is weak on the page; the dialogue states the problem too plainly. It went out through Amazon. Who it is for: viewers who like motorcycle racing and straightforward emotional sports drama. Who it is not for: anyone after an original story; this is predictable throughout.
