What Oscar and the Lady in Pink Is About
Ten-year-old Oscar overhears a conversation between his doctor and his parents and learns what nobody has the courage to tell him: he has a few weeks left. He will speak to nobody except Rose, the woman in the pink coat he meets at the hospital. Rose proposes two things: he will count each remaining day as ten years, and he will write a letter to God every day. Neither summary mentions this, and it is what holds the film up, since the boy lives a lifetime in twelve days. Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt adapted his own book.
