What Ronia: The Robber's Daughter Is About

Ronia grows up happily in the castle of her father, a robber chieftain, until she meets Birk, a boy her own age, in the dark forest nearby. The two explore the wilderness together, escape witch birds and grey dwarves, and learn to look out for each other. When their families find out they forbid it, because their fathers lead two rival bands of robbers who hate each other. The children have to try to pull down a wall that has stood between the families for years. Adapted from Astrid Lindgren’s novel, it takes nature and children’s courage equally seriously.
