What The Apple War Is About
A German businessman wants to buy a large stretch of land in southern Sweden. His plan is an enormous amusement park, and he has named it Deutschneyland. The orchards, houses and fields there will be cleared for it. The local council has been won over. But some of the villagers object, among them the Lindberg family, who know a little magic. As the resistance grows, the whole thing slides into a place where the real and the fabulous mix. Tage Danielsson's Swedish comedy runs a hundred and three minutes. Its joke is an easy one: nature sold off in the name of tourism and development. That is also what has kept it from ageing; the argument it stages is still standing in the same place.
