Madhavi is a new reporter on a newspaper. The section she is given is page three: parties, fashion shows, celebrities, who was seen with whom. Her job is to collect photographs of people smiling. After a while she starts seeing the other face of the same people: drugs, racism, the abuse of children, cases that get closed. She wants to write about it. The paper does not, because the advertisers on that page expect something else. Madhavi learns who decides which story runs. Madhur Bhandarkar directs the Indian film; two hours and nineteen minutes, with Konkona Sen Sharma as Madhavi and Atul Kulkarni, Sandhya Mridul and Boman Irani in the cast. Its subject is society journalism in Mumbai. It won the National Film Award for best feature film in India that year.
