What Pardonnez-moi Is About
Violette is a young actress expecting her first child. Wanting to leave something behind for the child, she decides to put her family in front of a camera. She sits down with her father, her mother and her siblings one by one and asks questions. As the conversations go on, things nobody wants opened come to the surface. This is Maïwenn's first feature; it draws on her own life and she plays the lead herself. The camera is handheld, the scenes long, the acting close to improvisation. The telling reduces nobody to a single sentence; those being accused get to speak for themselves too. In France the film was nominated for Césars for best first feature and most promising actress.
