Peeping Toms

Gutte and Eli are two friends in their thirties. They pass their time on the beach in Tel Aviv. Gutte works there as a lifeguard. He sees to it that the bathers lack for nothing. He chases off the men who spy on the women’s changing huts. Eli plays the guitar but his affairs are not going well. He is allowed the use of Gutte’s hut on the sand. He dreams of opening a night club. Neither of them wants to grow up. The moment responsibility appears they get away from it. The years pass but the life stays where it was. The film tells this with a bitter humour. Sea, sand and empty days are on screen throughout. It was shown in Berlin in 1973. In later years it became a cult film. Arik Einstein and Uri Zohar appear in the ninety minute film, an Israeli production Uri Zohar finished in 1972.
